Code of Honor by Tonya Burrows

I love the HORNET series, and I've been waiting for Jesse's story since he made an appearance in the Wilde series. In this book, Jesse is struggling. He is dealing with a sullen angry teenage son and discontent with his life direction. The last things he wants to deal with are suddenly being in command and having to be around Lanie, the woman he wants but doesn't want to commit to. A training mission causes him to have to face both of these things and puts him in a truly bad mood.

Lanie wants Jesse, but not if he's the boss. No way will she be accused of sleeping her way to the top, especially since she doesn't quite feel like she is accepted by the team anyway.

When a shocking terrorist attack finds Lanie and Jesse with only a skeleton HORNET crew and some trainees, they really don't have a choice but to work together until he'll can arrive.

This was a really great story with a crazy amount of action, tons of sexual tension, and a great kick butt heroine. In other words, it was everything I expect from Tonya  Borrows.

I requested and received an ARC from Net Galley.

Daddy Defender by Janie Crouch

Ashton is not who Summer thinks he is. Over several months, he has built a friendly relationship with Summer and her daughter, Chloe. His feelings of guilt over her husband's murder years ago have kept him from being completely honest with her. He plays handyman to her every need and waits for a chance to tell her the truth. Things get even more complicated when Summer ends up in danger and Ashton discovers he is likely the cause.  No way is he going to let her or Chloe get hurt. An old enemy is out to get Ashton and has found a partner in a man with a grudge against Ashton's whole team.

This was a pretty sweet romance with a super cute baby girl and an alpha guy with a softy heart. Baby Chloe was definitely one of my favorite aspects of the story. There was enough consistency in the suspense to keep me interested and a couple good action scenes.

Rule Changer by Sienna Snow

I read book two in this series and put book one in my wish list right after, but when I read the description for this book I almost wanted to skip it. From the description, it seemed like this might not have much of a plot beyond a fight for dominance in the bedroom. I decided to try it anyway since I enjoyed book two so much, and I'm glad I did. While the dominance issue did play a huge role in the plot, there was definitely a good dose of suspense along with a bit of action. I recommend reading these books in order for the best experience. Catching up with what's going on with previous characters is a big part of the fun of reading a series in my opinion.

Thomas and Carmen were obviously perfectly matched. There were a few times where I wanted to strangle Carmen since she constantly lacked trust. Granted, she had a good reason, but Thomas was obviously sincere in his desire for forgiveness and a new chance at a relationship. The chemistry between them was smoking, and even though the scenes of female dom/male submissive were pretty unusual, they were also pretty sexy.

Overall this made a nice conclusion to the series and wrapped up all the loose ends in a pretty exciting way.

Royally Ruined by Nora Flite

This was so good! I had never read Nora Flite before, so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. These characters were amazing. I got hooked on all the Badd siblings, Scotch, and Gina.  Both Scotch and Costello were so willing to sacrifice for the ones they loved, and once they discovered they loved each other, all bets were off. They were both in fierce protection mode. I loved them together. This story had suspense, action, family drama, emotional struggles, and some seriously intense chemistry which brought on some supremely sexy moments. I loved it, and I've already grabbed book one from this series so I can catch up.

Net Galley provided an ARC for review.

Hot Pursuit by Julie Ann Walker

I've read all the books in this series and was thrilled beyond belief when I was finally able to get an ARC of a BKI book from Net Galley. These books are some of my absolute favorites. The steaminess factor is always a 10, and the suspense never lets up. Hot Pursuit was no exception. After reading Christian and Emily constantly bickering their way through their attraction to each other through previous books, I couldn't wait for them to finally get together. Man, did they throw off some sparks when they did! I loved Emily's protective nature and Christian's hopeful and determined attitude where she was concerned. The story had plenty of action as well as they rushed over the English countryside. My only detraction would be to say that the heavily featured sexual tension/kissing between two male team members was not my reading preference, but to each his/her own. Otherwise, out was everything I expect when I buy books in this series.

The Guardian by Anna Del Mar

I've read quite a few of Anna Del Mar's books, both this series and others. I almost skipped this one since I'm not typically a fan of what I call destination novels. I thought the setting might detract from my enjoyment of the story, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Even if I hadn't read that Ms. Del Mar had actually traveled to Africa, out would have been evident from her vivid descriptions. I know the romantic suspense genre gets a bad rap sometimes, but there are actually many RS authors out there who take time to research their subject or setting and to create an exciting work of fiction which also makes you think about issues you might have never previously considered or might have pushed to the back of your mind. The best authors weaver those aspects seamlessly into the story without distracting you from the thrill of the suspense and the sizzling sexual tension. Such is the case with this book.  The action started right off the bat, and the chemistry that took a bit of time to fully develop was evident in the sparks between Jade and Matthias from the start. These two kick butt alphas shouldn't really mesh, but they do. Both are stubborn, and both are infinitely capable.  Matthias is absolutely beyond sexy. When they are both thrown into the midst of the most dangerous situation possible, it's anyone's guess what might happen. All said, I really couldn't put this down. I consumed it today within hours and absolutely loved it. Bibi the elephant was a particular favorite. I can't wait to get Sarah and Rem's story.

I received an ARC from Net Galley.
