Close Contact by Lori Foster

I love Lori Foster, and I was so glad when she started this series with some of my favorite fighters from her previous books. Miles has just started working for Body Armor when the woman who gave him the best nights of his life then left without a word shows up at his work a mess of her usual self. She needs his protection, and even though he is furious with her and doesn't really trust her, he still wants her. Someone has been gaslighting her and it has turned dangerous. She needs protection, and she will only trust Miles.

This story had so many of my past favorite characters along with really nice steamy scenes, a lot of suspense, and some nicely done misdirection. I'm so ready to get Sahara's and Brand's story next!

Tempted and Taken by Rhenna Morgan

I will start by saying that I've never read this author, so obviously I didn't read the first 3 books in this series. That said, this worked great as a standalone, and I liked the other characters so much that I plan to go back and grab the ones I missed. The guys of Haven are not related, yet they are brothers. There were so many of them, and I liked them all so much! Knox was a suspicious tech guru. When Darya approached him about a job opportunity, he wasn't taking her at face value. He suspected there was more to the story, and he was right. Darya had some big dangerous secrets, and she wasn't willing to expose anyone else to them even though she has admired Knox from afar for a while.

Knox finds himself instantly attracted to Darya, but he doesn't trust her. He agrees to mentor her while secretly keeping an eye on her. He even vets her with his family of choice who really around her. Darya is no shy wallflower, so it doesn't take long for her to convince Knox they are a good idea and take things to a more steamy level. Now that he doesn't want to be without her, Knox and his family have to find a way to keep Darya safe before she runs again.

Wingman by Emmy Curtis

I am loving this series! The super strong ladies excelling in male dominated military professions are phenomenal. This story can be read as a standalone since it happens concurrently with book one, just from a different perspective. I do highly recommend reading book one since it was phenomenal.

Missy is a weapons specialist flying with a pilot she had been in love with for a while. She knows it can be professionally damaging, but it really doesn't matter since Conrad treats her like a buddy and keeps things pretty superficial. His focus is on his career pretty much to the exclusion of all else. It takes Missy requesting a transfer and facing criminal charges for him to finally realize she means something to him and to start fighting for her. Though Missy isn't sure Conrad is really relationship material, she has wanted him for too long to resist their chemistry. Their situation makes for some very interesting encounters. The playground was a favorite.

I'm so ready for more of this series. I'm dying tho know what is really going on and to get stories for some of the other characters. I'd love to read more about The Animal.

Call to Redemption by Tawny Weber

Someone really wants to take down Poseidon, and Nic is an obstacle in their way who needs to be taken down. The weapon of choice is his reputation and that of his team. He is being branded a traitor, and the woman he hated to leave after a spectacularly steamy vacation fling is at the prosecutor's table. He was hoping to continue his connection with Darby, but since they never shared last names, he had no way of knowing if he'd ever see her again.

Darby can make a name for herself on this case if she ignores the the thoughts running through her head telling her that Nic would never do what all the evidence points to. With some serious pressure from above, she can't make a mistake, and trusting Nic could be the biggest mistake of all.

I loved Nic and the respect he is given by his men because of his loyalty to them. They trust he will always be there for them, and they will do no less for him. Nic will need all the help he can get to keep himself and Darby alive.

This was my second book in this series. I really want to go back and read book one soon. I enjoy books that have a nicely convoluted plot like this one.

Keep Me Close by Cynthia Eden

Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors. I tend to read everything she writes other than her paranormal type series. I just am not typically a paranormal reader. I decided to give this book a try because it did not seem to be as heavy on the paranormal as some of the others, and I was craving a Cynthia Eden fix. Having not read the first book in the series, I did have to play a bit of catch up, but it still worked pretty well as a standalone.

The attraction between Flynn and Cecelia is mutual, but for Flynn it is almost an obsession. Cecelia is completely opposite in that she prefers to ignore it. As much as she is attracted to Flynn, she is even more afraid of him and the others like him, especially subject five who wants her dead. Flynn has made it his mission to protect her. In his mind, she's his no matter what.

This was all the things I want to read romantic suspense for, lots of action and plenty of steamy chemistry between a spunky lady and a seriously alpha man.

The Big, Bad Billionaire by Jackie Ashenden

This was a totally different Jackie Ashenden than what I'm used to. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I found this on Net Galley and requested an ARC since I adore the author. I knew it wouldn't be the usual suspenseful read I tend to prefer, but I knew I'd probably like it. This was so different from Jackie Ashenden's typical writing style. It read just like a modern day fairytale. It had a tortured hero and a frightened heroine. The storyline had Rafe manipulating everything just to have some leverage over little Ella, the ballerina who had captured his heart long ago. They engage in a back and forth battle of wills with both determined not to give in.

This story had plenty of emotional ups and downs and tons of super steamy chemistry. I really enjoyed it and loved the dark side of Rafe.

Undercover Attraction by Katee Robert

This was fantastic and the best book in the series so far in my opinion. I didn't really know if I would ever be able to like Aiden enough to enjoy this story after how he has acted in the previous books, but I definitely wasn't going to skip this book since things connect from book to book in this series. As soon as I was able to request an ARC from Net Galley, I did it. Surprisingly, I ended up loving Aidan and the very spunky Charlie.  She was pretty much the only person who would stand up to Aiden, and somehow she got away with it. This story was very sexy with all the suspense, danger, and ever shifting family dynamics I love about this series. I'm so ready to read Keira's story next!

Risky Redemption by Marissa Garner

I've read Marissa Garner before and enjoyed her writing style, so I requested an ARC of this novel from Net Galley. I've got to start by saying that I don't tend to prefer books which jump back and forth in time like this story does, but I stuck with it because I really liked Jake, and the time jumps were only within a few months. Jake was an assassin but had a conscience. He did his job but only by convincing himself that he was getting rid of only people who deserved it. After getting the contract on Angela, he sets out to romance her...and kill her. It doesn't take long for him to realize something is very wrong with his mark. He expects a jaded traitor and finds a completely traumatized woman who is afraid of everything related to men. Jake discovers he wants to help her, so amidst all of the pressure to do his job and fear that someone else will, he decides to embark on a sexual recovery journey with Angela.  I've got to say that it was a very frustrating journey. Both Angela and Jake frustrated me many times, but I really needed to get the full story. It ended up being completely sickly twisted but ultimately redemptive. I noticed this is the first in a series, so I'm wondering who gets book two...could it be the rebel redheaded detective?

Touch of Red by Laura Griffin

Tracers is one of my favorite series, so of course I've read them all and wasn't about to miss this one. Sean and Brooke had known each other for a while. Brooke is an elite CSI with Delphi, and Sean is a local detective. They have worked the same cases before and have definitely noticed each other in more than a work sense. They find themselves working together again on a woman's gruesome murder where everything is just not adding up. Brooke is sure they are missing something, and she enlists Sean's help. The more they work together, the more their chemistry and connection grows.

In true Tracers fashion, this story had great chemistry, plenty of suspense, and nice action/danger (especially near the end). Several of my favorite characters from previous books made appearances, and I can't wait to see what's next in the Tracers series.

I requested an ARC from Net Galley.
