I'll Never Let you Go by Mary Burton

Mary Burton has long been one of my favorite authors. I especially enjoyed the Senseless duo and the Texas Rangers Trilogy. Honestly, I thought the first two books in the Morgans series were okay, but much more procedural than previous novels. Happily, this story picked up the suspense. While there is a romantic element, the Morgan's are not exactly an emotional family, Alex least of all. Rather than out of control chemistry, this is a couple of fully closed off individuals who gradually find their way into each other's lives and eventually each other's arms.

Leah was attacked several years ago by her ex husband who stabbed her repeatedly and left her for dead. Now, her friend is murdered in the same manner as she was attacked. When weird things begin happening in every area of Leah's life, she has to wonder if it is paranoia or if someone is stalking her. Alex made a point to get to know Leah as a way to further his investigation into her friend, but he finds himself drawn to her even as she is unwittingly drawn right into the middle of his investigation. The two slowly draw closer and closer as the danger escalates. Alex vows to protect Leah at all cost, but can he keep her safe when the past comes to call?

I enjoyed the creepiness of this story and the twists and turns. Leah was a great character, and I loved how strong she became.

I received an ARC for review from Net Galley.
